Taylorsville Days

Sheila invited me to attend Taylorsville Days with her and the girls, since Jon had drill. We sat through the parade first. Taylorsville is the town Sheila and family live in that adjoins our town of Kearns. She lives just a block away from the park where all of this took place.
Sheila then took Halie on some rides, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

There was a fun car show, and a tire burning competition. This car appears to be in the finals, I would say. Some of the cars had painted "Thanks, Les Schwab" on the back of their windows.

Alexis slept through some of the day. Couldn't resist this cute pose.

It was tough getting Halie away from this playground.

The scene awaiting the "Neil Diamond" (aka Jay White) concert, and fireworks show following. A wonderful show and fun day.

Alexis getting in a little conversation with Grandpa. Von is a Neil Diamond fan, so came for the concert and fireworks.

The parachuter bringing down the flag.

Twighlight. A very beautiful scenery and backdrop to a fun day, after a week of storms and rain.

Salute to the Air Force week!

Von, Sheila, her two babies, and I took a spontaneous adventure today. It started off as a trip to the Air Force Museum, where ironically we ran into Jared and Christian. Then since the big free air show was underway at Hill AFB next door, we decided to take a gander. The Air Force Thunderbirds were slated to perform, but we never saw them fly, since we hadn't planned to be there all day, and hadn't prepared properly...chairs, food, enought water, etc. But we saw much before we left.
Heading in to the Air Museum.

Inside the museum

Alexis in awe of it all.

Von's Goony bird, C-47, that he worked on in Thailand, 1973-74.

Another aircraft similar to the T-29 Von worked on in Duluth, MN 1974-75.

Aircraft similar to the first one (118) that Von worked on at Norton AFB, 1971-73.

A posing mement.

Von's last aircraft, KC 135 tanker.

Pretty small helicopter.

One of many paratroopers who jumped from the C-17.

Several aircraft flew throughout the day. These three represented 3 eras of flying.

The scene at the air show.

The amazing C-17, which made several passes fast, slow, making tight turns, landing at mid field in a few hundred feet, backing up, and turning completely around on the runway.

Camron's kindergarten program

Camron (in the middle near the top with the big smile) and the rest of the PM kindergarteners preparing to start their singing program; Kindergarten Days, featuring a recitation and song or two about each month of the year.
Hello, hello, hello, hello, we welcome you today!

Camron as himself!

Camron's "shining" moment... the November Thank You Song, thankful for the sun.
