Oquirrh MountainTemple Dedicated

Our new temple was dedicated this weekend. Von and I had the priviledge of volunteering our services all day Friday, Aug. 21, handing out shoe covers to the thousands who attended the three sessions. We were able to witness the sealing of the cornerstone ceremony. Our supervisor (Public Affairs) told us our names were included in the capsule, along with the many other volunteers who served during the Open House. The choir was outstanding. It was also Pres. Monson's 82nd birthday, so the congregation sang to him.
It went very smoothly, and we met the prophet and other general authorities as they arrived and departed at our entry station. We were able to sit in on the last session, and enjoyed hearing Pres. Monson's touching experiences as a bishop of over 1,000 members at age 22, to his visit with the East German President behind the Iron Curtain. Several members of our stake were in the choir that session. One of those spiritually fulfilling and exhausting days.

A new leaf.

Von home from his last day at work...balloons, posters, food laden. A bittersweet day.
A potluck meal, with posters and well-wishing, during lunchtime at Discover Financial.
Nice to know he will be missed.
No need for the well-worn steal-toed boots anymore. Immediate plans are our new callings as temple workers at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. We were both set-apart by Pres. Layton of the OM Temple following our interview with him on Thurs. August 6. We are in training for a couple weeks, and will begin serving Friday evenings after our vacation. Rosie has also obtained paperwork for Von to sign-up to volunteer at the grandkids' school in Riverton. We will both join and begin using the Kearns Rec Center in Sept.

Free Lagoon night

Sheila, Halie, Lexi and I took advantage of stake day free tickets to Lagoon
one evening, and took in one rock and roll dance show, and a couple rides. Just right for the little ones. Water fountain that dances to music, and lights at dark. Hot enough for some kids to play in!

Riding the carousel.....

and the train around the park.

Waiting for the song and dance show.

Camron's 6th Park Party

Most of the Robinson-Buxton clan gathered at a favorite park, Copperton, for a party. Camron showed off his swinging skills, going as high as Tyler.
Halie just learned to swing with a little help this year.

Camron's birthday cupscakes. Can you make out the "6"?

Notice my wind shield to keep the fire going?

ok, he's officially 6 now.

Wow, a sack full of wadded up money and candy!

Flying away with his magic cape.

Camron is 6!

Camron started first grade on his birthday, and wanted to go swimming afterwards. We picked up some McDonalds for a picnic by the pool.

Happy birthday boy. I didn't get photos of his first swim without the life jacket. Kristin once again coached him on swimming under water and coming up. He pretty much learned on his own, though. I was swimming nearby in amazement.

Dave's early birthday fun

We all met up at Madeline's Steakhouse for dinner. Had a room all to ourselves. Then over to Rosie and David's for more birthday celebrating.

Almost a fire hazard!
