Brigham City Temple

Von and I, Sheila and children toured the new Brigham City Temple during the Open House prior to its dedication.  The kids enjoyed the ride in the bus to the temple from a parking log, as well as all the amazing lights and rooms in the temple.

We viewed the first dedicatory session on Sunday morning, Sept. 23. It was broadcast to stake centers throughout Utah and parts of Idaho. Since this temple is in the valley where Von, his family, and ancestors live(d), it was a very emotional and spiritual experience. Open the video link below to catch highlights.

One of the choirs directed by Bear River High School's own choral director, Carl Ashby.
President Boyd K Packer, his wife, Donna, and son Alan and wife.  All native to Brigham City.

Another birthday?

It was a beautiful day, spent with Von, Rosie and Sheila shopping for a few new clothes at Penneys, then a new Samsung camera at Best Buy, followed by lunch at Kneaders!  Rosie made the cake, and the grandkids joined us for a chicken barbecue, cake and ice cream!  These are the first photos taken with my new little camera!

Son Dave sent me flowers!  And later we got on skype and got to see and talk to him and the Omaha grandkids.
 Jon, Jordan, Lexi
 Sheila and Jordan
Von at the barbecue, as always.
 Halie
 Jordan and Von
 Tyler
 Camron and Halie
Kristin, and Rosie!
It was a wonderful day!  Thank you all!

Labor Day Weekend Buxton Campout

Von and I, Sheila and family joined nephew Blair and the gang for a campout in the rough over Labor Day Weekend.  Out in the wilderness somewhere near Strawberry Reservoir.

On our way to the campout, we stopped for lunch at the famous Dairy Keen in Heber City.

It was raining on and off the rest of the day as we set up camp and chopped wood for the fire.

More of a techy campout with the RC planes and trucks, and dirt bikes, etc.

We had a moose walk through our campsite, then saw this one later on a canyon drive.
 Some deer, as well.
Loved the colors...greens, white, and blue.
Cattle was herded through the area one morning and wound up here for the day.

Von volunteered his truck for a run to catch crawdads at the reservoir.  9 kids in back, and 5 adults in front!
Von was offered some chocolate milk in this container before we left.

End of August 2012

We and Sheila and kids spent some time at Wheeler Farm, which has pretty much been taken over by geese and other birds!

Halie, Lexi and Jordan loved the playhouse on the farm.

The tallest geese were as tall as Lexi!
There is a new playground there now I haven't seen before.
At the end of preschool in May, Lexi was given a sunflower seed to water during the summer.  Here it is full grown in August.
Halie on one of several rides at the Box Elder County Fair.  Just Sheila, Halie, Von and I attended the rodeo this year with his sister, Nan.
Tyler and Camron's cub scout troop held a boat derby recently.  Tyler went on to win the event.
 Camron and his boat.
 Camron winning his first heat.
 Tyler's winning sail.
Camron and his new scooter.
