Our new temple was dedicated this weekend. Von and I had the priviledge of volunteering our services all day Friday, Aug. 21, handing out shoe covers to the thousands who attended the three sessions. We were able to witness the sealing of the cornerstone ceremony. Our supervisor (Public Affairs) told us our names were included in the capsule, along with the many other volunteers who served during the Open House. The choir was outstanding. It was also Pres. Monson's 82nd birthday, so the congregation sang to him.
It went very smoothly, and we met the prophet and other general authorities as they arrived and departed at our entry station. We were able to sit in on the last session, and enjoyed hearing Pres. Monson's touching experiences as a bishop of over 1,000 members at age 22, to his visit with the East German President behind the Iron Curtain. Several members of our stake were in the choir that session. One of those spiritually fulfilling and exhausting days.
