Thanksgiving get-away 2010
Von and I spent Thanksgiving with my parents, Don and Rosemarie, in El Centro, CA. They recently upgraded their tv to a big screen wall edition, so created the domino effect with rearranging furniture, etc. My brother and sister had gone down earlier in the month to help rearrange. The arrangement also allowed easier passage through the house for mother with her walker.
Living room by front entry. They also removed the rugs for easier walker maneuvers.

Dining area minus the china shelves.(now in living room hall)
Family room off the kitchen with new wall tv and stereo cabinet.
My addition of wedding photos of the grandchildren.
The study minus the sleeper sofa. Now a reading/additional tv viewing area.

Dad and Von enjoying a meal together.
Mother in her kitchen.
Enjoying our delicious turkey dinner, put together by mother with our help.
The day after Thanksgiving, we drove over to see my brother Dan and wife, Willy, who were vacationing on Corona Island (San Diego) at the Silver Strand State Beach. Cool everywhere we went, but sunny. Enjoyed a walk along the beach, watching dolphins, and soup and bread for lunch in their cozy trailor before making our way home.

Medical day
That was just the beginning of our medical journey for this day. That evening, Sheila (16 weeks pregnant) had some bleeding at home after a bathroom visit, so she was advised to go to the hospital and have it checked out. Four hours later, the bleeding was from her bowel, which will be further investigated after her pregnancy. They checked out the baby with an ultrasound and all is well. Sex was determined, but Sheila and Jon didn't want to know until Christmas. So, an envelope was given to Sheila with the results. I imagine she will let everyone know long before Christmas!

The Nutcracker
Our grand niece and nephew, Jessica (toy soldier) and Hunter (party parent), danced in a fun version of the Nutcracker (by the Barlow Arts Conservatory) last night in Provo at the Covey Center. Sheila and I ventured out to catch the first night of the production along with several other family members. It was done very well, and costumes were top notch. Great to see so many young dancers performing, along with a couple professional adults. Of course the funniest of the night was Mother Ginger, but the youngest characters were also very entertaining... party boys, baby mice, and sheep. My favorites were the mechanical doll, one of the court jesters, and the gingerbread kids. The little tumbler was amazing!
Two versions of the Nutcracker advertized. The one of the left is the production we attended.
