Papa Don turns 88!

My dad had another birthday August 21.  Here he is with his mother, Dorothy, at about 3 months old, in front of their Cover St. home in Riverside, Ca.  He was the first son after two daughters, so I'm sure it was a joyous event!

Probably close to 3 years old.
Dad loved water.  This is just one of many photos of him involved with water.  He went on to become a diver in the YMCA and a civil engineer over various water projects in California, culminating as Manager of the very large Imperial Irrigation District in Imperial, Ca.
Dad's father belonged to the Sierra Club, which involved hiking and camping in the Sierras.  Dad, of course took part on occassion.  Here he is going on probably his very first hike at age 4.

About age 4, and with all of his siblings;  Shireen, Peggy, (Don), Dick, and Ted.

Ready for school, age 5.
My dad this year during our June visit.  Still going strong and looking good!  Happy Birthday, Dad!

Summer Days 2012

Pioneer Day Floats Judging;  Sheila and girls, and Rosie, Kristin and cousin Emily ventured down to the South Towne Expo to preview the floats and pick our favorites.
There were other activities, like panning for gold.
Halie and Lexi were excited to hug the lion from the Madagascar movie.
My favorite, the train float marking the beginning of trains in Salt Lake, as well as the modern Front Runner at the other end.
 Lexi's favorite, the pirate ship.
Sheila, Halie and I spent some time at the Gateway fountains, waiting to meet up with Nan, Marcee and family.

Von baptized our neighbor's brother, Perry Cardwell.  He and his son, Ashton, have been living with Monica and Asachea for a while, and decided to join the Mormon Church recently.  Sister missionaries gave him the lessons and prepared the baptism.
We met up one last time with Dave and family at Leatherby's, of course!

Maren and Halie.  Makenna playing a matching game on Dave's device.
flowers at ITT Tech, while attending a barbecue and orientation of Jon's school one evening.
Halie back to school, 2nd grade.
It's so fun to watch the grandkids play in our backyard.  Lexi loves her Barbies and ponies, and to keep them away from Jordan climbs up on the slide to play with them.

 Jordan expressing himself loudly.
It didn't take him long to climb up there on his own!

We celebrated Camron's 9th birthday (July 28) at the West Jordan Park.  Soooo hot!
They have this amazing maze of structures for the kids to climb through.  The kids call it the "Castle Playground"

Rosie and sister-in-law, Sarah Robinson, rode their bikes from Rosie's house in Riverton to my house one morning (about 26 miles)...then back!

A favorite walk around Silver Lake one evening.

Mama duck and her babies thought we had some handouts.  Pretty brave ducks.

Our son-in-law, David Robinson's, youngest brother, Michael, was married at a chapel way out in Herriman. We lucked into finding it.  Fun and colorful occassion.
The cakes, Superman cake for Michael.
 David, Rosie and Kristin.
Tyler and Camron at the candy station.  I hadn't seen this done before.  You fill your own little bags
from the many varieties available.
